Jhan Doe (Live)

Jhan Doe

Legacy, how do you define legacy?  It is something you leave behind to be remembered.  As I look at my life and why I started music, I can only point to faith and fate.  We are given hands to steer our fates.  We are given hands to move the vehicle of live forward.  Some of us start small.  Some of us start with nothing. Some of us are given much.  In the end, we either make moves or make excuses.

Meiko Gilliam (aka Jhan Doe)My humble beginnings started in St. Louis, Missouri in south city.  Basketball ruled my life.  Like many inner-city kids, not a whole let else ever crossed my mind.  I played for 17 years of my life with no regrets.

Never one to focus on anything else as a teen, my father thought best I use my time more wisely in a church choir instead of wasting my life doing things that were not constructive (drugs, gangs).  I learned to love music.  I learned to love hip hop much like I learned to love God.  I always fell back on music and hoops when things got rough and life seemed to go wrong.

For the past decade, I have worked on my craft.  God will always be a part of my life, even when music can't be.  Now that I'm ready for the world to see my life and where I have been, you will hear as I paint that picture for you.  This is me.
